BAPKO Projects


Project Types;

In accordance with Marmara University's foresight and ideal, scientific research projects to be carried out in the internal structure of the university are handled and evaluated within the framework of the types given below.

Type A project:  Scientific Research and Development Projects: These are the projects that include the scientific research and development activities of the faculty members.

Type B Project:  Multidisciplinary Research Projects: These are research and development projects that include different scientific fields and are prepared by faculty members from different disciplines within the internal structure of Marmara University, jointly or together with researchers in national institutions or organizations outside. 

Type C project: Graduate Thesis Projects: These are the projects created to support graduate, doctoral and medical specialization theses and proficiency in art (thesis/exhibition/project) carried out in Institutes and Faculty of Medicine.

Type D project:  Projects for Supporting International Scientific Events: These are the projects to be carried out to present papers in international congresses, conferences and symposiums or for exhibitions, demonstrations and presentations.

Type E project:  Projects to Support Infrastructure for Scientific Research and Development: These are the projects presented by the department heads in faculties or by the departments of higher schools, institutes with academic staff or by the central directorates in order to improve the scientific research and development infrastructure of the relevant units.

F type project: Industry-Related Research Projects: These are the research and development projects initiated by the faculty members of our university, partially or completely, with the support of industrial organizations.

Type G project:  Nationally Supported Research Projects: These are the research projects given to be supported by DPT, TUBITAK and other national institutions.

H type project:  International Research Support Program Projects: Projects that are partially or fully supported by international organizations or are within the scope of the European Union framework program.

Type I project:  Education and Training Quality Improvement Projects: These are the projects carried out to increase the quality of education and training provided by Marmara University and to use modern technologies.


Project Application and Evaluation Criteria;


- Applications for type A, B, E and I projects are made twice a year on dates determined by BAPKO.

- The contribution of the project to science and practice, previous projects of the project coordinator and publications from these projects, SCI, SSCI, AHCI, etc. Criteria such as the number of publications in world-renowned journals, the number of citations to their publications, and the realism of the project budget are taken into account.

Type A Projects: The project coordinator presents the project proposal to the relevant dean's office, college, institute or central directorate with academic staff. Dean's office, college, institute or central directorates are forwarded to the BAP unit for evaluation of the project; It is evaluated by the relevant CRA by taking the opinion of the referee.

Type B Projects:  The project coordinator presents the project proposal directly to the BAP unit presidency. The project is evaluated by BAPKO by taking the opinion of the referee.

Type C Projects:  The project coordinator presents the project proposal to the relevant Institute Directorate/Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. The Institute Directorate/Dean of the Faculty of Medicine conveys its views on the projects to the BAP unit presidency as a decision of the unit board of directors. The project is evaluated by the relevant CSO.

Type D Projects: The request for support for presenting papers in congresses, conferences and symposiums abroad or for exhibitions, demonstrations and presentations is first made to the Institute Directorate, which is the Dean's Office/School/academic staff, through the Head of the relevant Department or Department. The request, which cannot be met by the board of directors of the relevant unit, but is approved by the owner, is submitted to the BAP unit presidency as a D type project; It is evaluated by the relevant CRA once a year as an oral presentation or a poster presentation for each person.

Type E Projects:  These projects are forwarded to the BAP unit presidency through the relevant Dean's Office / School / Institute / Central Directorate and evaluated directly by the BAP unit presidency.

F Type Projects: Projects that are requested to be partially supported by BAPKO are presented to the BAP unit; evaluated by the relevant CSO.

Type G Projects:  The project coordinator presents the project proposal to the BAP unit presidency. The priority order of the SPO project proposals is determined by the BAPKO and sent to the SPO presidency by adding the opinion of the Rector.

H Type Projects:  Projects that are requested to be partially supported by BAPKO are submitted to the BAP unit; evaluated by the relevant CSO.

Type I Projects: The project coordinator presents the project proposal to the Dean's Office / School / Institute Directorate through the relevant Department or Department. The application is evaluated by the Strategy Planning Commission formed in the units of the Faculty, School, Institute. This commission conveys its opinion on the project to the BAP unit presidency through the Dean's Office / School / Institute and is directly evaluated by BAPKO.
Finalization of Projects;


The finalization of the projects is done as follows, depending on the project type;

Type A and B projects: From such projects, an international scientific article or a chapter in a book is expected to be published in Marmara University's appointment and promotion criteria. If there is a publication/patent made in this way, it will be adopted as the final report. In order for the same coordinator to receive a second project in the same category in the next or the same period, this publication condition must be met. BAPKO decides on the publication under evaluation by a journal. In cases where these conditions are not fulfilled, a final report is submitted to the BAP unit head; It is evaluated by the relevant CRA by taking the opinion of the referee.

Type C projects: A master's, doctoral or medical specialization project supported within the framework of this project will result in the completion of the thesis or proficiency in art (thesis/exhibition/project). However, in order for a project coordinator to receive a new type C project, he must have at least one article from these projects that has been published or accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Articles in the fields of health and science and proficiency in the arts (publication or exhibition) must be international.

Type D projects:  The project coordinator submits a report to the BAP unit presidency stating that the reasons and objectives of the project have been realized in the projects supported within this scope.

Type E projects: The project coordinator presents a final report to the BAP unit presidency, showing how the support has been concluded and how the infrastructure has become available. Infrastructure facilities developed or established at the end of the project are examined on-site by the Strategy Planning Commission.

F-type projects:  In projects supported within this scope, a document stating that the project justifications and objectives have been realized is requested by the organization supporting the project. Finalization of projects that do not require confidentiality can be done as in A and B type projects.

Type I projects: A report prepared for the finalization of the projects supported in this context is submitted to the Strategy Planning Commission, which is formed in the units of the Faculty/School/Institute/Central directorates related to course materials and equipment. This commission presents its views as a final report to the BAP unit chairmanship.
